Will my course completion be reported to the FLHSMV?

Yes. We electronically report your course completion to the FLHSMV. However, you are responsible for filing your certificate with the appropriate court where your traffic ticket was issued.

When will I receive my certificate?

You can select your certificate delivery option at checkout. If you choose Instant Digital Delivery, you can download your certificate immediately after completing the course. If you select Standard Digital Delivery, your certificate will be available for download within five business days. After course completion, you may also upgrade from Standard to Instant Digital Delivery, if needed.

How often can I take a BDI course in Florida?

You may elect to take a 4-hour Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course once every 12 months, up to eight times in your lifetime. If you exceed these limits or your license is suspended for points, you may be required to complete a 12-hour Advanced Driver Improvement (ADI) course.

Can I remove points with a 4-hour BDI course?

A state-approved 4-hour Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course does not remove existing points. Instead, it prevents points from being added for an eligible moving violation, helps protect your insurance rates and preserves your safe driver status.

How do I know if I need Advanced Driver Improvement?

You likely need an Advanced Driver Improvement (ADI) course if your license has been suspended or revoked due to points, or if you've been at fault in three crashes within 36 months.

Who is required to take the TLSAE course in Florida?

In Florida, all first-time drivers ages 18 and older must complete the 4-hour Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course before applying for a driver's license.

The course is also required for some court-ordered drug- or alcohol-related offenses and may be necessary to apply for a hardship license after a qualifying license suspension. It covers the effects of drugs and alcohol on driving, along with Florida traffic laws and safe driving practices.
