Frequently Asked Questions

Is this traffic school certified by the State of Florida?

Yes, this online Driver Improvement (also known as traffic school and defensive driving) is State-approved in Florida. This course is certified by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

How do I know if I need to take Traffic School?

Traffic school is available for those who get a traffic ticket for a non-criminal moving violation. This does not apply to commercial driver license holders.

Traffic School is a requirement for license holders to keep their driving privileges if:

  • the driver was in a crash and at fault and
  • someone was taken to the hospital or
  • the driver had two crashes in two years, which resulted in damaged property that exceeded $50
  • the driver was convicted of
    • running a red light or stop sign
    • reckless driving
    • racing
    • failing to stop for a school bus

ADI (Advanced Driver Improvement) is required if the court has suspended or revoked your license but allowed you to take traffic school to get a hardship license.

Is the course registration and payment secure?

Yes. Any personal information you provide is transmitted using industry standard 1280-bit SSL encryption. This is the same level of encryption used for online banking as well as online commerce across the globe. To verify that the site is using strong encryption, when you hit "Register" you will notice in the address bar that the url starts with https. That tells the browser to use a secure standard for online transactions. Also, other notifications are often available to provide assurance like the padlock symbol in IE and Chrome, or the green bar in Firefox and Chrome.

How long does the online traffic school course take?

The Basic Driver Improvement traffic school course takes a minimum of 4 hours to successfully complete. Expect to spend at least this amount of time completing the course. Judge-ordered driver improvement is a total of 8 hours. Advanced Driver Improvement is 12 hours.
